If you need 3D support of your VMware Workstation Player or VMware Workstation guests running on top of a Linux Host OS, you need to edit the Guest’s *.vmx file manually, as the User Interface of VMware Workstation Player or VMware Workstation don’t have the options available to change the settings there. The file must have the following entries:
mks.enable3d = “TRUE”
mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = “TRUE”
svga.graphicsMemoryKB = “131072”
Make sure the VMware Tools have been installed in the Guest, and you should now have 3D support.
