have been trying to install Makulu but calamares seems to to majorly lag finding modules, last attempt gave up waiting after 227 seconds, anyone have any sugesstion,
trying to instal from a bootable DVD

It would seem you are having problems updating packages during install, this is a well known calamares issues on certain isp’s or certain hardware. its easy to fix.
you can try edit the following file :
/usr/share/calamares/calamares.conf
look for a line :
– packages
and changes it to :
# – packages
save the file and exit and now run installer.
